The Future of Designing for the Customer Panel Discussion

For this week’s episode, we are in for a special treat. This is a recording of a fascinating panel discussion called The Future of Customer Experience, by the service design community in Los Angeles. It was hosted by my friend John Ayers, who was our guest in episode six and he leads the Service Design Meetup group in Los Angeles. The panelists have a great variety of expertise in the specialties surrounding the customer experience. They talk about the differences, similarities, and benefits between service design, design thinking, user experience design, customer experience, and more.

The panelists are:
Jod Kaftan, Group Design Director at Fjord
Sarah Stern, Service Design Manager at LootCrate
Michael Hardy, Lead Experience Designer at Tradesy
Chris Chandler, Design Practice Lead at Philosophie
Seema Jain, Director of Customer Experience at Bluewolf

You can download the referenced slide deck on the Future of Designing for the Customer Panel Discussion.

Quick shout out to General Assembly Los Angeles, where this event was hosted. They have been a generous education partner for the service design community in LA, as well as our home for the our annual Global Service Jam. I am also very proud to be an instructor at General Assembly, and I teach classes and workshops on service design, design thinking, and human-centered SEO.

My upcoming classes:

Friday, June 24: Creative Coffee Hour - Designing the LA Commute
Sunday, June 26: Human-Centered SEO Bootcamp

There will be additional classes added in the next few days, so you can view more on my instructor page at GA. I highly recommend checking out a GA in your city - they are an inspirational hub of knowledge.
